You might ask how a mundane chore such as grocery shopping could be fun. Well when the grocery store in question is a four story food mart emporium in Shanghai that’s painted to look like a French village, there is plenty of fun to be had!
For example, you could pick up the meat needed for tonight’s dinner, rifling barehanded through the bins to find just the right piece.
Or you could choose a freshly plucked chicken if that’s what the recipe called for. Thankfully our recipe did not call for chicken.
The produce department was impressively vast, with every type of vegetable you can imagine. Nothing comes pre-bagged though. You have to pick what you want then take it to the workers waiting at the scales who will weigh your products and slap a label on the bag. Just don’t expect the other shoppers to wait patiently while you slowly grab items from your cart. If a bag isn’t already on the scale, it’s anybody’s to use.
After spending a few hours in the store locating everything we needed and some things we didn’t, we returned home victorious, though without the cool and refreshing blueberry chips.
Would you have tried the blueberry potato chips?

I love Carrefour! Glad you made some good finds. We tried the Blueberry chips–they are disgusting! Not worth trying.

I’m glad we didn’t try them! The tomato chips are good but the seaweed ones taste a little too much like the ocean. Might try cucumber next.
